Program Description: This program provides guidance and perspective to help college men navigate the accepted social norms and expectations. Sex and relationships have become even more complex as technology and social media evolve, rates of sexual assault and STIs rise, and an ambiguous hookup culture dominates the social scene. Backed by extensive research and anecdotes gleaned from interviews with college students, Pierce provides trustworthy answers for pressing questions about the college life and offers supportive guidance with humor and compassion.
- Members will gain a deeper understanding of the interconnected relationship between normalized hookup culture, accepted binge drinking, porn culture, social media, and messages in marketing provide relentless reminders that you are not enough.
- With increased understanding and common language around these issues, members will be more likely to question pressures (both real and perceived) and expectations generated by peers, the wider community and the culture.
- With new perspective and information, members will consider proactive efforts to reduce pressure on peers to engage in behaviors that have been normalized and unquestioned.

Intended Audience: Fraternity men
Presenter Bio: Cindy Pierce combines comic storytelling, years of research and a no-nonsense approach to engage students in conversations about making healthy choices, navigating cultural, media and peer pressures, and the importance of consent and communication in sexual relationships. She is the author of Sex, College and Social Media: A Commonsense Guide to Navigating the Hookup Culture (Bibliomotion, 2016).
