The NICF Foundation Awards of Distinction recognize successful programs
and outstanding development techniques of Greek letter Foundations.
Fundraising
Submissions for the Fundraising Category should include the following documentation: net income, cost per dollar raised, participation rate, and any other useful information you deem necessary.Annual Campaign
- Best Direct Mail Package refers to a single mailing (carrier, letter, reply device, package, etc).
- Best Non-Direct Mail Package may include single or ongoing events, magazine/newsletter appeals, telephone campaigns, web page designs, etc.
- Best E-Mail Package refers to appeals, cultivation, acquisition, etc.via e-mail.
- Best Student Development Effort refers to the raising of funds from students.
- Best Alumni(ae) Development Effort refers to the raising of funds from alumni(ae).
Major Gift Campaign
- Best Development Effort may include one or more events including telephone campaigns, written materials, brochures, etc.
Planned Gift Campaign
- Best Development Effort may include one or more events including telephone campaigns, written materials, brochures, etc.
Donor Education/Relations and Public Relations

- Best CD/DVD/Video (General/Fundraising Content)
- Best Brochure (General /Fundraising Content)

Public Relations
- Best Public Relations Effort includes news releases, electronic and printed articles, and other information sharing with the general public.
Miscellaneous
- Best Use of a Foundation Grant for a Fraternity/Sorority Project or Program may include a complete package of brochures, letters, videos, etc.
- Best Campaign/Program in Support of an outside Philanthropy may include a complete package of brochures, letters, videos, etc.
- Best Special Event may include a convention, leadership conference, local or national event.
- Best New Development Idea covers any area of development.

Your foundation relies upon dedicated professionals, helpful volunteers, and generous donors. This year, the NICF will recognize those who have shown their support for a specific foundation through resources, time, or funding.
Outstanding Philanthropist Award
This award is presented to an individual or family with a proven record of exceptional generosity who, through direct financial support, has demonstrated outstanding fraternal and charitable responsibility, and whose generosity encourages others to take philanthropic leadership roles within the Greek community on a national and/or international level. Your nomination should include the following information:- Evidence of direct gift support.
- Description of impact of gift support.
- Evidence of encouragement and motivation given to others to take leadership roles in supporting Greek organizations.
Outstanding Foundation Volunteer Award
The individual eligible for this nomination must have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills in major fundraising projects for a fraternity or sorority. List your nominee’s specific achievements for the past year or several years, such as:- Evidence of quality leadership and organizational ability in fundraising campaigns
- Description of time, effort, and financial commitment
- Description of fundraising goals achieved by his/her effort
- Evidence of success in recruiting and motivating others
William D. Jenkins Outstanding Foundation Professional Award
This award is designed for an outstanding individual fundraising professional of a fraternity or sorority foundation who practices his/her profession in an exemplary manner. Your nomination should include the following:- Description of career achievements in the Greek world (i.e. length and tenure of fundraising background, experience, results, and involvement in interfraternal activities)
- Evidence of quality leadership that is effective, creative, stimulating, and evidence that the individual acts as a team player
- Evidence that the individual acts in accordance with ethical fundraising practices for professionals
- Description of the individual’s commitment to continuing professional development, conference participation, publication, and professional education
- Evidence of commitment to the profession and to philanthropy through volunteer service and financial support to his/her foundation
